A kilowatt is the same as one thousand watts. Most of the time, this unit is used to measure the
- Power of engines,
- Electric motors,
- Tools,
- Machines, and
- Heaters.
Electric utilities often use the kilowatt-hour, which is the amount of energy used by a 1000-watt device in one hour, as a billing unit for the energy consumed.
Watt is the SI unit for real power, and VA is the SI unit for apparent power. Volt-Amp is only 1000 times of kiloWatts divided by the power factor.
VA = 1000 × P / PF
