The term “rpm” refers to the rate at which an electric motor’s rotating magnetic field is moving.

To use the synchronous speed calculator, follow these steps:

For calculation, the aforementioned tool requires the following information:

  • The motor’s number of poles.
  • Frequency of supply.

After entering the necessary information, output in rpm is generated.

For the calculation, use the following formula:

Motor revolutions per minute (rpm) = 120 X f / P

Where,

  • f: Frequency of supply
  • P: Number of poles.

As a result, the synchronous speed of a motor is proportional to the supply frequency and inversely proportional to the number of poles.
